This is a new role and with it comes a huge challenge which will result in being Matron of an excellent PCCOT service within the Children’s Division who will be responsible for the link between ED & the deteriorating patients within the Children’s Hospital. You will be responsible for tackling staffing, overseeing our anticipated expansion and implementing a philosophy of care which will make this part of the PCCOT outstanding care. You will work closely with all matrons, AHP’s, medical and wider Children’s Hospital teams as well as being the Lead for Martha’s Rule. Whilst promoting and working towards this agenda which should result ultimately in quicker recognition of the deteriorating child the matron will need to ensure an all-round safer environment and nursing team,
The Matron for the PCCOT will be responsible for the operational and clinical management of these services within the Children’s Hospital. You will lead the nursing team within the service, whilst working in conjunction with the Matrons, Senior Nurses and wider MDT within the Children’s Division. There will also be a close working relationship between the medical teams, GM and the ADoN for Children’s.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will have overall accountability for the day-to-day management of the Paediatric Critical Care Outreach Team (PCCOT), across the Children's Hospital at Royal London Hospital, while serving as the Paediatric Lead for Martha's Rule implementation and deteriorating patient.

1. Registered nurse (Child)
2. Degree/diploma/experience in relevant health area equivalent experience
3. Post Registration Qualification in Intensive Care or emergency care (children/neonates)

33. Clinical skills and knowledge obtained through experience of working as a Children’s nurse within a busy Children’s Department.
