Moorfields Eye Hospital are recruiting a highly experienced Band 8a Safeguarding Adults Practitioner to join their exceptional Safeguarding and Named Nurse for Adult Safeguarding team.

It provides state‑of‑the‑art operating facilities run by some of the UK’s leading ophthalmology surgeons, providing operative services including laser treatment, vision correction, cosmetic treatment, and various other corrective treatment for a range of eye conditions.
Responsibilities
1. Triage all safeguarding queries and concerns raised by hospital staff, ensuring timely risk assessment, prioritisation, and appropriate escalation.
2. Provide immediate advice and guidance to staff dealing with urgent safeguarding situations, ensuring safe and proportionate responses.
3. Determine whether presenting concerns meet the threshold for a safeguarding referral, and support staff through the referral process when required.
4. Ensure accurate documentation and record‑keeping, including updating patient medical records.
5. Promote adherence to statutory frameworks such as the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act, Liberty Protection Safeguards, and PREVENT duties.
6. Support implementation of best practice guidance, ensuring staff have access to tools, resources, and up‑to‑date safeguarding information.
7. Deliver safeguarding training (statutory and specialist levels) to clinical and non‑clinical staff.
8. Support induction programmes by ensuring new staff understand safeguarding responsibilities and escalation routes.
9. Provide ad‑hoc teaching on wards, especially following incidents or identified learning needs.
10. Support staff in assessing mental capacity, completing best interests processes, and understanding least restrictive options.
Requirements
* Must have NMC First Level Nurse Registration or relevant professional qualification (RN or RNLD)
* First level degree in relevant subject
* Post‑registration training in safeguarding adult
* Active professional portfolio in area of vulnerable adults / learning disabilities
* Experience at Band 7 or above
