The Role
One of the UK's leading national property consultancies is seeking a capable Graduate / Assistant Building Surveyor to join its highly successful Manchester office.

This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role within an established and collaborative team, gaining hands-on project responsibility while working towards chartership.
Key Responsibilities & Technical Requirements
Working closely with senior surveyors and directly with clients, you will be involved across the full project lifecycle, including:
Client & Brief Development
Engaging with clients to understand strategic objectives, asset performance, and operational requirements
Assisting in developing clear and deliverable project briefs
Providing early-stage feasibility advice, budget costings, and risk assessments
Preparing schedules of works and specifications
Design & Pre-Contract Stage
Undertaking building surveys, condition surveys, and defect analysis
Preparing technical drawings, reports, and tender documentation
Advising on statutory compliance, planning and building regulations
Assisting with procurement strategy and contractor selection
Contract Administration & Project Delivery
Administering building contracts (JCT experience desirable)
Chairing progress meetings and liaising with contractors and consultants
Monitoring programme, cost, and quality performance
Managing variations and change control processes
Ensuring health & safety compliance (CDM awareness beneficial)
Post-Contract & Final Account
Inspecting works on completion
Agreeing final accounts and closing out projects
Providing post-project evaluations and client reporting
Projects will typically include refurbishment schemes, asset improvement works, planned maintenance programmes, and minor works packages across a diverse portfolio.
The Ideal Candidate
Degree qualified in Building Surveying or related discipline
Minimum 12 months' relevant surveying / project experience
Experience assisting in the delivery of minor works or improvement projects
Strong interest in developing expertise in project management within asset management and building improvement
Highly organised with the ability to manage time and workloads effectively
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly and confidently
Ambition to progress toward (or currently working toward) RICS APC
