Main duties of the job
You'll be working on Spencer Ward. This is a 15 bed in patient service providing assessment and treatment for women with mental disorders. Treatment is aimed at identification and management of needs rather than just a particular diagnosis. We are dedicated to providing gender sensitive care and treatment for women detained under the Mental Health Act. Spencer Ward is the only female low secure unit in South Yorkshire. In this role, your expertise will be the driving force for life-changing treatment fully supported by a Specialty Doctor and first-class multidisciplinary team. And youll have the opportunity to progress to Medical Director level through our management schemes.

We have an excellent full time opportunity at Cygnet Hospital Sheffield. This isa low secure service for women and CAMHS services for male and female adolescents over three distinct wards.
You'll be working on Spencer Ward. This is a 15 bed in patient service providing assessment and treatment for women with mental disorders. Treatment is aimed at identification and management of needs rather than just a particular diagnosis. We are dedicated to providing gender sensitive care and treatment for women detained under the Mental Health Act. Spencer Ward is the only female low secure unit in South Yorkshire .

Your role responsibilities
1. Work as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT)
2. Take overall responsibility for patient treatment plans in conjunction with the MDT
3. Assess referrals & undertake mental state examinations of service users
4. Undertake appropriate investigations, diagnosis & treatment
5. Participate in ward rounds & clinical audits
6. Lead the implementation of risk assessment, risk management & embed clinical governance
7. Supervise reports for Mental Health Act tribunals & managers hearings & attend hearings
8. Participate in the 1 in 6/7 second telephone on-call rota

We are looking for someone who is...
20. Fully GMC registered & MBBS (or equivalent) qualified
21. Registered on the specialist register (CCT/CESR), Section 12 and AC Status
22. Experienced & knowledgeable in adult psychiatry & mental health diagnosis
23. Knowledgeable of the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice, along with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Code of Capacity
24. A first-rate communicator who can interview, assess & treat patients & write clear, comprehensive medical notes
25. Committed to continued professional development
26. Able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
27. A member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) or equivalent
Successful candidates will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
