Base Location: Birmingham or Leeds

Why Join KPMG as a Senior People Advisor

Working in the People Advisory Services Team (PAS) you will have responsibility for providing business focused and best practice HR support to the business. Your role will encompass managing a variety of HR queries from responding to ad hoc queries and providing initial guidance, advice and support to performance and sickness casework, escalating matters to the Employee Relations team when appropriate. Your proactive approach will support all activities outlined in the HR service catalogue and agreed cyclical activity.

You will work on building strong, trusted relationships with key stakeholders, particularly with Performance Managers and Performance Leaders.

Whilst establishing yourself as a credible advisor, your ability to challenge and provide sound advice will be instrumental in fostering an essential collaborative environment. Your will work collaboratively across OEH and the People function ensuring a seamless first-class HR service.

Flexibility in your approach will enable to you to gain the trust of diverse stakeholders. You may also assist in managing challenging conversations, drawing on the support of senior colleagues when needed and meticulously document all activities on relevant platforms for accurate reporting and analytics.



What will you be doing?



1. Build your knowledge to enable you to effectively provide a knowledgeable service and level of support to ad hoc queries not covered by policy, seeking guidance from Colleagues as and when required
2. Working alongside the operational stakeholders and Senior People Advisors in to ensure promotions & steps processes are delivered in line with the central guidance and administered through Appian for each quarterly cycle
3. Assisting with ad hoc bonus validation queries
4. Supporting the Senior Advisors to provide first line Q&A to the business on the calibration process and attend ad hoc calibration meetings as agreed
5. Ensuring all exits from the business where the Colleague is on a sponsored visa are notified immediately to the immigration team and liaising with them in any aspect of the scope of your work where required e.g. long term sickness, AWOL cases for Sponsored Colleagues
6. Supporting the Senior Advisors in managing Sickness Case Work to 8 weeks
7. Supporting the Student Health Questionnaire process, ensuring any flagged OH referrals at Onboarding stage are picked up so that new joiners will have required adjustments on joining
8. Managing referrals from Neurodiverse Colleagues in the first instance to Microlink - Genius Within
9. Assisting the Senior Advisors on OH /Case work- Mental Health/Non critical illness - point to service first occasion of referral to OH within first 8 weeks of sickness or currently at work with intermittent sickness or work-related concerns
10. Supporting with OH referrals from a Performance case (RPP) migrating the case to the ER team if required and if the case is progressing through the stages
11. Supporting the Business in initial referral of critical illness cases up to 8 weeks and supporting colleagues through the application process.
12. Stress Risk Assessment support, coaching Managers to own and deliver the process
13. Supporting Case Work to include informal management and RPP's to stage 1 with appropriate guidance given by D1 to include updating trackers and reporting. Prepare panel packs and scribing as and when required
14. Evidence gathering and collating information for Panels and note taking under guidance of ER Specialist. Basic advice at front end and collateral for all stages under guidance of ER Specialist.
15. Assisting Seniors with managing exits from the business relating to qualifications & exam failures.
16. Assisting in the provision of MI Reports in conjunction with OEH Central team as directed by the Team Leader (D2)
17. Focusing on continued improvement and support the review of SOPs and MAPs as and when appropriate to reflect processes and consistent understanding of processes





What will you need to do it?



18. A good degree of understanding in applying employment law
19. Have a proven ability to build relationships and communicate with people at all levels and be intensely customer focused
20. Possess strong problem solving and facilitation skills
21. Be an excellent communicator – written and verbal
22. Have strong influencing skills and the ability to challenge senior colleagues
23. Have a proven ability to work to deadlines and work without supervision
24. Have excellent IT skills including Excel, PowerPoint and SAP/SuccessFactors or equivalent HR system





Skills we’d love to see/Amazing Extras:

25. It is expected that you will be CIPD or part CIPD qualified or have the desire to study for the CIPD qualification.
