Position

This is a replacement post for a Deputy Director of Public Health / Consultant in Public Health / PHMedicine working as part of the Local Public Health Team in Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. The team is currently based in Woodland House, Llanishen, Cardiff.

The postholder will be expected to cope with multiple and changing demands, meet tight deadlines, and demonstrate high levels of intellectual rigour, negotiation and motivation skills, flexibility, tact and diplomacy, and an ability to understand other cultures to enable effective working across organisational boundaries and influencing without authority.


Responsibilities

* Provide public health leadership, advice and support to the locality areas within Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan
* Contribute to the development of integrated partnership strategies
* Take responsibility for developing local policies, interagency and interdisciplinary plans and programmes to deliver key public health targets
* Provide expert public health advice and leadership to support and inform an evidence based approach within ethical frameworks for planning and developing high quality equitable services across the whole system and across organisations
* Provide public health input to transformational programmes, for example whole system developments and strategy for immunisation, and approaches to working with our local ethnic minority communities
* Develop proficiency in the active use of behavioural change evidence and methodology to support health improvement
* Develop an expertise in active network development to enable health improvement
* Actively work to reduce health inequalities working in partnership with others
* Deliver programmes of work in partnership, to improve population health, for example providing strategic leadership to improving immunisation uptake rates in the Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan population
