Our Regional Civil Engineering have been awarded the Highways Term Service Agreement to deliver highways improvement schemes across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole for BCP Council. The contract, (awarded in June 2023), will see deliver highway and cycleway improvement schemes for the next four years and is extendable for a further six years to May 2033.
As a result we are seeking a Site Engineer with previous knowledge on local authority roads, highways, related structures, or groundworks/earthworks schemes.
You'll be working on…. (what your role and responsibility is)
* Provide site engineering duties within a geographical area of the Section. Establish the level and survey control for the works, liaising with the Survey team and set out detailed works as per the contract drawings, ensuring checks are made on a regular basis.
* Assist the site management team to manage sections of the work/specific sub-contract packages.
* Liaise with the client representative and designers over design issues/changes.
* Take responsibility for checking and keeping records of delivered material, to ensure all materials used on site are in line with the specification. To include adequate checks on subcontractor materials.
* Carry out checks on the sub-contractor's setting out.
* Carry out checks for quality in accordance with the inspection and test plan throughout the contract and duly record.
* Establish records; calibration documents and check registers for all instruments on site, including subcontractor's instruments. Keep accurate records for excavations, reduce dig, concrete pours, reinforcement etc. and convey to commercial team.
* Carry out surveys of completed works to record as-built conditions.
* Assist in drafting method statements, task briefings and inspection and test plans.
* Take reasonable care for the safety of themselves and of any other person who may be affected by what they do or fail to do at work.
* Co-operate with their employers or any other persons in the performance of their statutory duties.
* Work in accordance with the Octavius Business Management System Policy and procedures.

About you…. (what you are skilled at)
* Experience on highways infrastructure and/or Civils works to include earthworks, structures, highways, drainage or utilities.
* Have worked in a structured environment with other Section Engineers, sub-contractors and site management team.
You'll bring… (your wealth of experience & qualifications)
* HNC/Degree (Construction/Civil Engineering related) or equivalent and working towards institute membership (ICE).
* Experience of setting out on civil engineering projects and management of daily activities.
* CSCS Card.
* Cable avoidance training (desirable).
* First Aid Training
* IOSH / SSSTS training.
* Good communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with delivery team & client.
