About the role
As part of the Commercial Finance Function, the Finance Analyst is responsible for supporting HL’s financial performance, forecasting & planning processes within the Client team, in addition to driving business performance and decision making through the provision of insightful analysis.
What you’ll be doing
1. Collaborate on different elements of the Client team to drive value across both revenue and cost as well as supporting other Finance Business partners on projects and initiatives
2. Financial Planning, Reporting and Performance tracking – support on creating and reporting on budgets, forecasts and commentary
3. Create reporting and dashboards reports on revenue, margin, contribution, initiatives and sales and operational performance – and then drive action with outputs liaising with operational teams
4. Support the business in the creation of business cases and models to deliver value – with non-financial assumptions. Challenging and changing assumptions to ensure they are valid yet challenging
5. Investigate current processes within Finance and identify and deliver. Process optimisation / automation / streamlining – to deliver efficient and more insightful outputs and deliverables. Look at developing month end processes, standard reporting requirements (weekly and monthly) to drive value into the business
6. Evaluating financial data, examining current events and market developments to identify trends in financial performance to provide recommendations for improvement.
7. Working alongside business colleagues to produce insightful, timely and well governed operational performance metrics – enabling the business to effectively manage performance
8. Cross functional collaboration with the wider finance team to ensure continuous improvement.
About you
9. Experience from a professional consultancy background or commercial experience within a group function in a large complex organisation
10. Recently qualified to 3-year PQE or significant QBE
11. Demonstrable proficiency in financial modelling techniques. BI experience desirable but not mandatory.
12. Strong analytical and data gathering skills. Working across sales and promotions, ROI tracking etc desirable
13. Proactive, organised and self-sufficient.
14. Accomplished in forging effective relationships at all levels, skilled at influencing, negotiating and managing challenging conversations with ease.
15. Solution focused mindset – with the ability to assimilate complex information and develop innovative solutions and resolve complex issues promptly.
16. Experience with a variety of systems and an aptitude for learning new ones.
17. Ability to transition between the ‘big picture’ view & detail and synthesize financial & non-financial insights from across the organisation.
Interview process
The selection process will incorporate competency-based questions including an assessment of your technical knowledge and transferable skills. For candidates who progress to the next stage, there will be a presentation to prepare and deliver.
Working Schedule
This role is based in Bristol head office, BS1 5HL. This role is permanent, full time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. We offer a hybrid flexible working pattern to enable you the option of working from home and coming into the office.
