Job Profile
A private practice is seeking a Building Surveyor to join on a full-time, permanent basis. The surveying department undertakes planned maintenance, dilapidations, party wall work, project monitoring, project management, building surveys, and HMO-related work.
The ideal candidate will be MRICS or AssocRICS qualified with at least 3 years post-qualification experience. You should have experience in structural and building surveys, inspections, property acquisition assessments, and commercial property work.
What You'll Do
* Conduct detailed building and condition surveys
* Prepare specifications, reports, tender documents, and costed estimates
* Manage small works projects from start to finish, including JCT contract administration
* Liaise with clients and contractors to deliver technically sound, commercially viable solutions
* Support business development and leverage your network to secure new instructions
* Mentor junior staff and collaborate within a small, versatile team

Position Requirements
* MRICS or AssocRICS with minimum 3 years' PQE (or strong APC candidates)
* Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills

* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Full UK driving licence (pool car available for business use)
You will work across a broad range of residential and commercial properties, primarily in and around Southampton, Salisbury, Bournemouth, and the New Forest, with occasional projects elsewhere in the UK. Strong communication skills and attention to detail are essential.
