The Software Asset Analyst is responsible for supporting the business by using analytical skills and licensing knowledge to provide credible management information for internal customers. Daily tasks consist of performing license reviews, handling software requests via workflow (and other sources), and providing advice and guidance around software licensing to colleagues and business users.
What's the job
1. Monitor software license usage across the organisation.
2. Ensure compliance with software license agreements & regulations
3. Maintain accurate records of software licenses, entitlements, and usage rights
4. Identify and mitigate risks associated with non-compliance or license misuse
5. Analyse software usage patterns and find opportunities for cost savings
6. Identify and eliminate unused or underutilised software licenses
7. Support and coordinate license audits and compliance checks with internal and external stakeholders
8. Support procurement and follow all procurement policies ensuring an efficient process for software orders
9. Generate regular reports on software asset usage, compliance status, and cost savings
10. Analyse data to identify trends, patterns and opportunities for improvement
11. Support implementing best practices and standards for software asset management
12. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
13. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
14. Understanding of software licensing models and compliance regulations
15. Working knowledge in software asset management tools and systems (SNOW, ServiceNow, SNOW for SAP Optimizer, ILMT, Power BI)

16. Analytical Skills - Utilise strong analytical skills as a SAM Analyst to meticulously assess software usage, optimise licensing agreements, regulatory requirements, fostering cost-efficiency and risk mitigation.
17. Communication - Ability to use language to express and share information. It includes verbal and non-verbal communication across all channels
18. Technical Skills – Recognised as “SME” for relevant Technical Services relating to the role, you will need expertise in license management, data analysis, vendor negotiation, IT asset inventory, risk assessment, and proficiency with SAM tools.
