Job Description:
Bournemouth University’s vision is to be recognized worldwide as a leading university for inspiring learning, advancing knowledge, and enriching society through education, research, and practice. Our diverse and skilled workforce reflects a variety of backgrounds, talents, perspectives, and experiences, fostering a vibrant global learning community.
Our modern campus is located on the outskirts of Bournemouth, nestled between the New Forest and the beaches of Bournemouth and Poole, near Dorset’s Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. The Department of Humanities & Law is part of the Faculty of Media and Communication, one of the largest globally, renowned for research in creative industries, teaching, and professional practice. The Department emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration alongside subject-specific excellence.
We have a strong culture in Law, centered around our BU Law Community and the Centre for Intellectual Property Policy & Management (CIPPM). We are recognized globally for our research in Intellectual Property, Human Rights, and Missing Person studies, with Professor Klinkner leading projects funded by the European Research Council. Our research environment supports mentorship and development. Your research can align with our current strengths or explore emerging areas of Law. You will also develop proposals and seek external funding, contributing to research group development to enhance our research culture.
We collaborate with students to co-create research and support their ambitions. Our undergraduate Law programs include LLB Law, LLB Law with Legal Practice, Law with Politics, and Law, Media and Creative Industries. We also offer postgraduate courses, including various LLMs such as Public International Law, International Commercial Law, Intellectual Property Law, and Legal Practice. The successful candidate will contribute to both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, with the ability to deliver innovative online, blended, and face-to-face learning experiences. Experience teaching Corporate Law and Governance and Business Law and Practice is essential. We value a commitment to equality, diversity, sustainability, and embedding these principles in our work.
Applicants should hold a Doctorate in Law or a Masters with the ability to create and disseminate knowledge at an equivalent level, or demonstrate the capacity to obtain a doctorate within 3-5 years of appointment.
This position may not typically qualify for sponsorship under the UK Skilled Worker Route unless exceptional circumstances, such as meeting the 'new entrant' criteria, apply.
