Health Care Assistant (HCA in General Practice)
NTGP invites a Health Care Assistant to join a multidisciplinary team at North Trafford Group Practice, serving 15,000 patients across two sites in Stretford and Manchester.
Job Summary
Provide high‑quality, person‑centred care through clinical duties, administrative support, and health promotion activities. Act autonomously within professional scope, delivering face‑to‑face care, telephone consultations and home visits.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform clinical observations (BP, pulse, temperature, weight, height, BMI).
* Undertake phlebotomy, ECGs, urinalysis.
* Administer NHS Health Checks, assess cardiovascular risk and give lifestyle advice.
* Support chronic disease monitoring (diabetes foot checks, spirometry as trained).
* Carry out vaccinations (flu under PSD) and other delegated duties.
* Perform wound care and simple dressings following protocols.
* Record all clinical activity accurately on EMIS/ICE.
Person Specification
Essential
* Health Care Assistant qualified for primary care (preferably general practice).
* Qualified and trained phlebotomist.
* Ability to take vitals.
* Experience working within a nursing team.
Desirable
* Experience working in general practice.
* Understanding of EMIS clinical system.
* Knowledge of long‑term conditions and physical assessment.
Other Requirements
UK registration required; DBS or equivalent check.
