Overview
Alzheimer Scotland is Scotland's national dementia charity. Our aim is to make sure nobody faces dementia alone. We provide support and information to people with dementia, their carers and families, campaign for the rights of people with dementia and fund vital dementia research.
Responsibilities
* Set up, deliver, and evaluate a range of person-centred activities, support groups, and community-based services for people living with dementia and their carers across North and South Lanarkshire.
* Work as part of a team of two to deliver a varied, engaging programme that may include drop-in sessions, therapeutic activities, Dementia Cafe-style provision, carer support, brain-health initiatives and other community-based opportunities through local venues and hubs.
* Collaborate with colleagues and local partners to design activities that respond to the needs and interests of people affected by dementia, promoting wellbeing, independence, social connection, and meaningful engagement.
* Create warm, welcoming, and inclusive environments where people feel supported, valued, and able to participate, while building local awareness and strengthening community connections.
Qualifications & Experience
* Positive, proactive, and compassionate approach to supporting people living with dementia and their carers.
* Passion for improving wellbeing and helping people stay connected within their communities.
* Commitment to promoting dignity, choice, inclusion, and independence.
* Creative, organised, and adaptable, with the ability to design and facilitate engaging activities and group experiences.
* Confidence in building trusting relationships, creating welcoming environments, and supporting people through both positive and challenging situations.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a wider team.
* Comfortable engaging with individuals living with dementia, carers, volunteers, community partners, and professionals, using good IT and administrative skills.
* Experience working with people living with dementia, carers, older people, or within health, social care, community, or voluntary sector settings (advantageous).
* Experience planning, organising, or facilitating group activities, community engagement initiatives, or support sessions (beneficial).
* Enthusiasm for continuous learning and professional development, and a keenness to develop knowledge of dementia, brain health, and community-based support.
* Full, valid driving licence and access to a vehicle; essential because the role involves travelling across North and South Lanarkshire (mileage and expenses paid).
* Relevant qualification and previous experience supporting people affected by dementia desirable.
