About Us

We are Qualifications Wales, the independent organisation responsible for regulating general and vocational qualifications in Wales.


Our strategic priorities over the next five years are:

* To develop a coherent and inclusive range of qualifications for learners aged 14-16
* To build an effective and sustainable qualifications offer
* To modernise assessment approaches
* To support the qualifications system through grants and expertise

We are now looking for a Qualifications Officer to join us on a full‑time, permanent basis, working 37 hours per week. Requests for alternative working patterns, including part‑time and job share, may be discussed at the interview.


The Benefits

* Salary of £37,111 - £45,378 per annum
* 31 days’ annual leave (plus public holidays and office closure at Christmas)

The Role

As a Qualifications Officer, you will ensure that qualifications and the qualification system in Wales effectively meet the needs of learners.

Specifically, you will support project delivery by planning and organising work, reviewing evidence against criteria and contributing to informed decision‑making, while helping to provide clear feedback to awarding bodies.

You will also engage with expert advisers and stakeholders, ensuring accurate reports, records and documentation are produced to support effective delivery.

Additionally, you will:

* Review awarding bodies, qualifications, processes, systems and documents
* Contribute to the management of contracts with external experts and other providers
* Support cross‑cutting projects across the organisation
* Contribute to programmes of review, monitoring and compliance


About You

To be considered as a Qualifications Officer, you will need:

* The ability to communicate clearly and convincingly in discussions in English and Welsh
* Experience of working within a structured and effective project or programme management environment
* Experience of reviewing information against criteria to form a judgement
* Experience of engaging with stakeholders in a formal context
* An understanding of project management techniques
* The ability to draft clear and concise reports

Other organisations may call this role Assistant Project Manager, Project Officer, Qualifications Administrator, Project Administrator, or Programme Assistant.
