We are seeking to appoint a full-time Consultant in Restorative Dentistry (9 PA) based within our Department of Restorative Dentistry. The post offers an exciting opportunity to join a friendly and supportive team to provide care for high priority patients in restorative dentistry. The post-holder will support patient care focusing on Head & Neck Cancer and complex restorative rehabilitation patients. The role will involve training of specialist trainees in Restorative Dentistry and Prosthodontics.
Applicants must be fully registered with the GDC, on the GDC Specialist Register in Restorative Dentistry, or must be accredited or within 6 months of accreditation at interview stage and have completed a SAC approved training programme. The Royal London Dental Hospital has undergone major digitisation upscaling during the last 18 months. We have invested >£2.5m in electronic patient record, clinical, laboratory and teaching equipment. You will have an opportunity to work in the state-of-art and most digitally advanced dental hospital and school in the country.
* Carry out pre-surgical/pre-radiotherapy dental assessments and provide written reports and communication with other members of the MDT.
* Formulate dental management plans including dental disease prevention, provide pre-surgical/pre-radiotherapy dental treatments.
* Plan post-surgical/post-radiotherapy dental management either within primary or secondary care and liaise with GDPs, Community Dental Service.
* Carry out complex oral rehabilitation, e.g. obturators, maxillofacial prostheses, implant-based reconstructions.
* Receive tertiary referrals from other regional Head & Neck cancer units without local Restorative Dentistry support.
* Develop the complex implant-based reconstruction service for patients after resective surgery.

* To take active part in postgraduate training programmes.
* To be an active Clinical and Educational Supervisor of trainee dentists; supervising and mentoring the junior clinical staff working in the department.
* The appointee will be expected to take an active part in the Clinical Governance activities, both in relation to continuing professional development and the quality and effectiveness of clinical services.
* To undertake administrative and management duties appropriate to the post and to contribute to the management process of the service and wider Trust where appropriate.
