Felixstowe Road Medical Practice is looking for a healthcare assistant (HCA) to join the practice in this vital patient-facing role with both clinical and administrative responsibilities. The role is offered on a part-time basis for 10 hours per week (ideally looking for 10 hours over 1 day however, will consider an extra half or full day for the right candidate.) Main duties of the role: Carry out base-line observations such as pulse, oximetry, temperature, blood pressure and blood glucose levels, recording findings accurately. venepuncture, phlebotomy checks. Ensure that all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session. Update patient health records. Ensure that medical supplies are in stock. Act as a chaperone where required. Communicate with patients, relatives, and carers including providing valuable health promotion and education. New patient health checks. About the Candidate All applicants should have the following skills and qualifications: Qualifications and experience - these are a requirement to be considered for the role: Successful completion of the Care Certificate, or willingness to undertake, as indicated by the CQC. Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care, or equivalent. Essential knowledge, skills and experience: Strong clinical skills including venepuncture/phlebotomy preferred but not essential. Excellent patient-facing communication and interpersonal skills. Confidential manner with a compassionate and respectful approach, placing a high value on the dignity of patients, relatives, carers and colleagues. Ability to work independently, determining own workload priorities, as well as working as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Strong organisational and time management skills. About Us We are a friendly GP practice situated over the East side of Ipswich. Our aim is to provide high quality, patient centred care, adhering to a traditional model of general practice, whilst recognising the need to evolve and respond to the new challenges in health and social care. We have just over 10,200 patients supported by a team of 7 GP's 4 practice nurses and 2 healthcare assistants along side various PCN staff that are working for the practice.
