The Role:

Join Hampshire County Council’s Children’s Services — rated Outstanding by OFSTED — and play a vital role in improving outcomes for young people.

As an Administrative Officer, you’ll be an integral part of our Social Work teams, providing essential administrative support that allows frontline professionals to focus on what matters most – safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. In this dynamic and rewarding role, you’ll play a vital role behind the scenes handling a variety of tasks utilising your skills in organisation and communication.

What you’ll do:

* Manage administrative and scheduling tasks including diary management, meeting coordination, and general team support to ensure smooth operations.
* Prepare and maintain documentation such as reports, correspondence, court documents, and accurate databases and records.
* Handle confidential information with discretion while acting as the first point of contact for internal and external queries.
* Support financial and logistical processes by assisting with financial administration, processing invoices and payments, and organising transport for families.
* Facilitate effective communication with social workers, partner agencies, and families to support casework and service delivery.

What we’re looking for:

* Extensive administrative experience with strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
* Proficiency in IT and digital systems, including Microsoft Office and other software.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to build relationships and work effectively in a team.
* Adaptable and resilient, capable of working under pressure, using initiative, and managing competing priorities.
* Commitment to inclusion, diversity, and organisational values, demonstrating empathy, professionalism, and respect.

Take a look at our Candidate Pack for more information about the Administrative Officer role, team and our values. The section ‘About you’ explains what specific knowledge, skills and experience we want you to tell us about. Make sure you explain how you meet these requirements and demonstrate our values, in your application.

* Be part of a supportive, collaborative team where your contributions truly matter.
* Receive a thorough induction to help you feel confident and prepared in your role.
* Enjoy flexible working options, including a 9-day fortnight and hybrid arrangements to support work-life balance.
* Access to Health Assured's comprehensive Employee Assistance Programme to support your physical and mental wellbeing, including 24/7 telephone support, a suite of online resources, and legal and financial advice.
* Competitive benefits package, including generous annual leave, occupational sick pay, and access to the Local Government Pension Scheme. Find more informationhere .
