Assistant Management Accountant

Overview
A Hays exclusive opportunity for an Assistant Management Accountant to support budgeting, forecasting, and management accounting activities within a large, complex organisation. The role will work closely with senior stakeholders, providing financial insight and supporting income streams while ensuring strong financial control and compliance.
This role is well suited to a part‑qualified accountant or someone with equivalent experience looking to develop within a broad, hands‑on finance role.
Key Responsibilities
Support the production of monthly management accounts, budgets, and forecasts
Assist with month‑end and year‑end processes, ensuring statutory deadlines are met
Provide financial analysis and reporting to operational and senior stakeholders
Support budget holders across departments, responding to queries and offering guidance
Assist with income generation activities including invoicing, income reconciliation, and expenditure analysis
Support financial planning for a range of income streams and projects
Contribute to process improvements and implementation of new financial activities while maintaining financial integrity
Skills & Experience Required
Part qualified (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) or equivalent practical accounting experience
Strong management accounting background within a similar financial environment
Experience preparing budgets and forecasts across multiple cost centres
Confident working to deadlines with multiple competing priorities
Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills, with the ability to adapt reporting formats (Essential)
Ability to analyse financial information and present clear, meaningful insights
A confident communicator able to work with both finance and non‑finance stakeholders
Desirable
Experience working in a large or complex organisation
Exposure to change initiatives or process improvement projects
Proactive, solutions‑focused approach
Previous experience working in the Public Sector
