Caretaker – Temporary Role

About the School
We are a large, welcoming all-through school in Portsmouth, supporting pupils from Reception (age 4) through to Year 11 (age 16). Our site also includes a nursery and a specialist provision building, making this a varied and engaging environment to work in.
The Role
We are seeking a reliable and proactive Caretaker to join our friendly Site Team. This is a key role ensuring the smooth day-to-day running, safety, and presentation of our school facilities.
Due to staff changes, our current team of 4 will reduce to 2, so we are looking for support as soon as possible.
Key Responsibilities
* Site security (opening/locking up)
* General maintenance and basic repairs
* Preparing rooms and areas for school activities and external lettings
* Maintaining site cleanliness and presentation
* Supporting health & safety compliance across the site
Working Hours
The Site Team operates on a shift rota:
* 6:30am – 2:30pm
* 8:00am – 4:00pm
* 2:30pm – 10:00pm
There is also a Saturday shift (8:00am – 3:00pm), which is shared within the team and helps cover external hirers using the school facilities.
We welcome candidates who are flexible and able to cover a range of these shifts.
