Are you empathetic, reliable, and committed to making a positive impact in the lives of others? We're looking for a Support Worker to join our supportive and hardworking community team in Dorchester. Please note: Autism Unlimited does not provide visa sponsorship. The role We're looking for a Support Worker to join our team, supporting five men aged between late thirties to early sixties who live independently in their own flats, within a supported living setting. The people you'll support enjoy a variety of activities, including: Day trips to places like the Sea Life Centre or Monkey World Walks to local charity and book shops Cooking and baking in their kitchens Weekly group meals out - a highlight for many! Three of the individuals use visual aids such as PECS and body language to communicate, while the other two are verbal, highly independent, and require minimal support. Your role will also include supporting with day-to-day living skills such as cooking, cleaning, and following medication routines. At the heart of everything we do is to promote the independence of the person we support, and ensuring we have a relaxed, empathetic and encouraging team working with us helps us achieve this. Hours of work Shifts range between 7am - 10pm on a two week rolling rota. This role would include working alternate weekends and sleep ins (sleep ins come with an additional payment) A day in the life of a Support Worker would include: Maintaining consistent and accurate records regarding care plans, finances, appointments and medication Sharing your skills and life knowledge with the people we support to enable good life skills and independence when living in the community Following the support plan in plan for each person we support to enable the person to feel comfortable and happy, adapting this as required based on change in behaviour Providing some elements of personal care from personal hygiene prompts, helping to bath and wash, medication Why our colleagues enjoy working for us!
