Overview
Account Manager Welding & Compressed Air Equipment role at Mitchell Maguire Recruitment Ltd. Field sales responsible for a broad portfolio of welding, compressed air and related equipment sold to trade retail customers and their end users in automotive, agricultural, engineering and construction sectors.
Responsibilities
* Field sales role selling a manufactured and distributed range of welding and compressed air equipment.
* Manage a wide product portfolio (over 1,300 products) including welding and metalworking equipment, air compressors and air tools, battery charger starters, automotive equipment, heaters, generators, pressure washers, water pumps, woodworking equipment, and more.
* Sell into trade retail customers who then sell to end users within automotive, agriculture, engineering or construction sectors (including some large end users and the top 10 branches of buying group members).
* Responsible for approximately 65 active spending accounts, with turnover of £20,000+ (200+ small spending accounts handled by an internal sales team).
* Accountable for circa £1.6m revenue, with ~75% from managed accounts and 25% from internal team contributions.
* Target 2–3 high-quality customer visits per day, typically 4 days per week, with team virtual meeting every Friday morning.
* Predominantly an account management/account development role focused on maximising existing relationships.
Qualifications / Ideal Candidate
* Proven B2B field sales track record, selling into trade retailers/distributors within automotive, engineering, agricultural or construction sectors.
* Knowledge of welding and metalworking equipment, air compressors and air tools, battery charger starters and booster packs, automotive equipment, heaters, generators, pressure washers, water pumps, or woodworking equipment (full product training provided).
* Experience selling into trade retail customers preferred.
* Account management/relationship-building skills with a track record of growing established large accounts/customers.
* Willingness to travel; occasional overnight stays may be necessary.
* Tangible evidence of sales track record/account development.

Remuneration & Benefits
Remuneration: £35,000–£40,000 Neg. + discretionary bonus (typically 12–15%). Benefits: £400 car allowance or fully expensed plug-in hybrid car & benefits package.
Location: West Midlands & South West (area includes postcodes south and west of TF, WS, WV, B, CV, GL, SN, SP and BH).
