Platform Engineer
Locations: Glasgow/Edinburgh – must be willing to travel to client sites throughout the UK on an ad hoc basis.
Salary: Competitive, based on experience.
Responsibilities
* Collaborate closely with clients to build digital products and deliver them to customers.
* Deploy your own mastery hands‑on and lead others to execute projects efficiently with low complexity.
* Act as an advocate for engineering practices that prioritize value, thoughtful solutions, and pragmatic automation.
* Contribute to internal and regional engineering communities, share knowledge, and shape conversations around technologies of interest.
* Responsible for adopting AI‑assisted engineering practices (e.g., GitHub Copilot, GitLab Duo) while understanding model limitations and protecting client data.
* Bring a reliability mindset to delivery, design services that are operable by default, and implement observability (logging, metrics, tracing) with actionable alerting.
* Drive incident response and post‑incident reviews to learn and improve system resilience.
Qualifications
* Designing and maintaining scalable CI/CD pipelines for automating software delivery.
* Hands‑on experience with cloud automation tools (AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, IaC) to provision and manage infrastructure as code.
* Deep understanding of system performance optimisation for cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
* Knowledge of cloud security best practices, IAM, encryption, and monitoring in the cloud.
* Experience integrating security into the CI/CD pipeline using tools such as Snyk, Aqua Security, or HashiCorp Vault.
* Strong collaboration skills working across development and infrastructure teams.
* Experience setting up monitoring, logging, and alerting for improved system observability using GitHub, Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, Terraform, GitLab, Snyk, Vault, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or Splunk.
* Experience in DevOps teams with industry‑standard practices.
* Hands‑on experience with GenAI or evidence of personal GenAI projects outside of work.
