Siemens Energy has an exciting opportunity to develop and grow a new business function in support of the growing UK offshore renewable and HVDC interconnector market.
With the increase in demand for HVDC technology moving forward, we have decided to establish a dedicated team within the UK to support the delivery of future projects including a full transient network analysis laboratory for functional and dynamic performance testing.
As a HVD C Controls Engineer you will work with in a team of HVDC project management and engineering specialists to design and deliver full HVDC control and protection solutions for both wind farm grid connections and interconnectors making use of a new transient network analysis laboratory located in Manchester.
Y ou will report to the Engineering Manager – HVDC C&P and will be required to provide engineering work packages in line with project and business objectives .

Your responsibilities
Design of open and closed loop control systems for high voltage direct current systems (HVDC) .
Preparation of design specifications, documentation, and effort estimations .
Clarification of technical requirements within the project teams as well as with customers and suppliers .
Implementation of control software in MATLAB/SIMULINK as well as verification using simulation tools and real-time test environments .
Remote s upport of the commissioning team during the commissioning phase
Remote s uppor t of the service team during the warranty phase
Your skills and qualifications
Bachelor s or Master s degree in electrical engineering or a comparable field of study
Long term professional experience of energy and control technology
Good knowledge in converter- and high voltage technology, as well as in open and closed loop controls
Good MATLAB/SIMULINK knowledge including model-based implementation and verification
Experience in the configuration of automation systems, preferably SIMATIC TDC / S7
Very good English language skills, German language skills are an advantage
