About the role
As a Tesco Customer Delivery Driver you will be the face of Tesco on the road, delivering to customers’ homes across the country. The role involves more than driving: providing great service with a smile, helping customers, and delivering their shopping within the designated time slot. It is hands-on, physical, and varied, with support from Managers and colleagues back at base.
Availability and hours: Tesco offers a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours per week, with options to work fewer hours (minimum 12) if desired. You will be scheduled within the advertised availability windows, and you will receive 3 weeks7 notice of your shifts. Flexibility is welcomed if your available times closely match the advertised windows.
Pay: Rate of pay starts from £13.35 per hour, rising to £14.56 per hour for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may apply depending on location.
Working patterns: Availability windows are provided; shifts can include weekends. Example windows are shown below, with shifts scheduled in line with these times.
About the role components include delivering orders, communicating substitutions or changes, ensuring product care, and delivering within customer time slots. You may need to contact the customer before arriving if early, or contact the store if running late.
Responsibilities
* Delivering your part of the customer shopping trip and maintaining clean, tidy vans and trays.
* Leaving the back yard clean, picking up litter as needed, and ensuring trays are washed as part of the tray wash process.
* Loading the van, checking roadworthiness, and talking to customers about changes to their order, including substitutions; offering refunds where appropriate.
* Taking care of products/deliveries and explaining substitutions to customers, including confirming no extra charges for substitutions.
* Delivering during the customer time slot and calling the customer before arriving if early; calling the store if running 30+ minutes late.
Requirements
* Valid UK/EU/EEA driving licence (Full or Automatic) for at least 12 months with no more than 3 penalty points.
* Ability to build relationships with colleagues and an Customer-focused approach with friendly, welcoming interactions.
* Ability to respond quickly to changing customer needs and embrace change within the store; energetic and driven to deliver beyond expectations.
