Vacancy Description

This 4-year Engineering Apprenticeship will cover a structured course provided by our training partner Make UK. You'll be given a tailored training plan to work through at our service centers, supported by your allocated mentor and manager.

Working under supervision, some of the tasks you will work towards being responsible for are:

1. Complying with legislative and industry best practice.
2. Performing proactive and reactive maintenance.
3. Follow all Health & Safety procedures.
4. Maintain electrical and mechanical equipment.
5. Seek ways to improve all processes and procedures relating to maintenance.
6. Work safely following detailed risk assessments.

Working with our Training Provider (College) and work mentors, some of the skills and knowledge you will develop are:

1. Technical communication skills.
2. Strong safety mindset and understanding of safety procedures.
3. Ability to problem-solve and have a continuous improvement mindset.
4. Ability to prioritise, work under pressure and make decisions when required.
5. Be fully conversant in engineering maintenance theories and principles within own discipline.
6. Ability to read engineering drawings.
7. Develop Strong Fault-Finding abilities within own discipline.
8. Ability to shut down & start up equipment safely - LOTO.
9. Perform first-line routine mechanical and electrical maintenance, including removing and replacing components, cleaning, lubrication, inspection, and fault finding.

5. Following the successful completion of your apprenticeship, subject to role availability, you can apply for a permanent shift technician role.
6. Further in-house and external training and development are available, including continuing higher education and academic studies in engineering.

Training


Training to be Provided

Together with invaluable commercial and practical experience, you’ll work towards several academic and vocational qualification levels throughout your time with us, which are fully paid for, including:

1. Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Foundation Competence – in year 1, in 6 week blocks to include 4 weeks at Make UK and 2 weeks in company
2. Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Development Competence - in years 2 to 4 in company
3. Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Development Knowledge - in Years 2 & 3 on block release to Make UK
4. In house training in line with your requirements.
5. Further qualifications deemed necessary by your employer

On completion of your studies, you will achieve your full apprenticeship certification that will prove competence as a Level 3 Engineering Technician.
