The Cyber Security Consultant will work closely with the Head of Security Business Enablement and IT projects to translate the goals and policies of the centralised security function into business deliverables and provide vital business insight.
As Cyber Security Consultant, you will collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their business model and technology roadmap, acting as an interface between the business and the cyber security organisation.
Managing relationships with the business is key to delivering our cybersecurity strategy. Whether implementing new solutions, driving operational effectiveness, or providing guidance to enhance our strategy, the Cyber Security Consultant builds stakeholder relationships to enable the security organisation to deliver maximum value to NESO.
This role will ensure the secure design and implementation of technology solutions, platforms, and infrastructure.
This position can be based in Wokingham or Warwick, with hybrid working arrangements available.
Key Accountabilities
* Engage daily with project and IT teams to advise and consult on security matters
* Act as a trusted advisor to IT programmes for security-related issues
* Coordinate technical design and review activities within the security team
* Identify, address, and resolve key risks and issues to satisfy business needs
About You
We’re seeking visionary minds to join us on this transformative journey. The ideal candidate will have:
* Solid understanding of IT services across cloud and on-premises environments
* Knowledge of security principles and their application in an IT context
* Understanding of security services, malware defenses, network security (firewalls, IDS, IPS, etc.), and environment hardening techniques for Windows, Linux, and Oracle
* Experience with risk management and integrating IT services with security services (e.g., Vulnerability scanning, SIEM)
* Knowledge of NIS-R regulations
* Strong communication skills
* Ability to operate independently and as part of a team
* Hands-on IT experience and pragmatic approach
* Experience in Critical National Infrastructure or utilities is advantageous but not essential
* Higher education in IT is a plus but not required
What You'll Get
A competitive salary from £53,000 to £71,000, dependent on experience. Benefits include a bonus, 26 days annual leave, a contributory pension scheme with company matching up to 12%, and comprehensive well-being and professional development support.
