A well-regarded pensions organisation is seeking an experienced Pensions Manager to join their team in a hybrid London-based role. This is an opportunity to work across a varied portfolio of defined benefit pension schemes, operating in a client-facing, governance-focused environment where you will take meaningful responsibility from day one.


You will work closely with trustee bodies, supporting effective scheme governance and helping clients navigate an increasingly complex regulatory landscape. The role would suit someone with a strong DB background who is comfortable engaging directly with trustees and stakeholders at a senior level.


Key Responsibilities:


* Manage a portfolio of defined benefit pension schemes, acting as the primary point of contact for trustee boards and sponsoring employers
* Prepare and present high-quality trustee meeting papers, including agenda management, minutes, and action tracking
* Support trustees in meeting their legal and regulatory obligations, including compliance with TPR's General Code of Practice
* Project-manage key scheme events such as actuarial valuations, benefit changes, liability management exercises, and wind-ups
* Liaise with and coordinate input from legal advisers, actuaries, investment consultants, and other professional advisers
* Provide guidance on scheme governance, trustee training, and best practice
* Support or lead on scheme secretarial duties where required
* Contribute to business development activity and internal knowledge-sharing initiatives


Skills & Experience:


Essential

* Solid experience in a pensions management, trustee secretarial, or governance role within a professional trustee firm, consultancy, or in-house pensions team
* Strong knowledge of defined benefit schemes, including funding, investment, and regulatory requirements
* Proven ability to manage trustee relationships and communicate complex pensions matters clearly to non-specialist audiences
* Experience coordinating adviser panels and managing multiple workstreams simultaneously
* Up-to-date knowledge of TPR requirements and the pensions legislative landscape
* High standard of written communication - able to produce clear, accurate, and well-structured reports and minutes


Desirable

* PMI qualification (or working towards) or equivalent professional accreditation
* Experience working within or alongside a professional trustee firm
* Exposure to defined contribution arrangements or hybrid schemes
* Familiarity with scheme wind-up processes or liability management exercises
