We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Shop Assistant to join our friendly team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in enhancing customer experiences by providing exceptional service and support. This position requires strong organisational skills, effective communication, and the ability to upsell products while maintaining a welcoming atmosphere in the shop.
Responsibilities:
* Customer Service: Providing a friendly and helpful service to all customers, offering product advice and support, including transferring customers' orders to their vehicles.
* Sales & Till Operation: Handling sales transactions, operating the till, and processing payments accurately.
* Stock Handling: Lifting and carrying heavy bags of animal feed (up to 25kg), as well as restocking shelves and keeping the store tidy. Ensuring all inward & outward deliveries are correct and mispicks reported to the manager.
* Order Management: Assisting with stock deliveries, checking for accuracy, and maintaining the storeroom.
* Shop Maintenance: Ensuring the shop is clean, well-organised, and welcoming for customers.
* Independent Working: Confidently managing the shop alone when required, including handling customer queries and resolving any issues.
* Over 18s only
* Does include weekend work
Experience
* Previous experience in retail or customer service is essential, with at least 3 years experience.
* Some animal knowledge is required but full training will be given. A passion for animals is essential
* Strong time management skills to prioritise tasks effectively in a busy environment.
* A friendly demeanour with excellent communication skills is essential for building rapport with customers.
