Main duties of the job
The Medicines Management Team are looking for a newly qualified, or soon to be qualified Pharmacy Technician to join the team on a progressive Band 4-5 contract where we will support you with your development with a robust progression framework - giving you the foundation towards a successful Pharmacy Technician career. We would also welcome applications from those already operating at a Band 5 level who are ready to seamlessly slot into the team at a Senior Pharmacy Technician level.
Our Medicines Management Team work closely with our clinical pharmacist colleagues across a variety of disciplines, ensuring that patients are receiving the correct medications during their hospital stay and at discharge. You will have the chance to work directly with patients and make a real impact on their hospital journey.

Job responsibilities
Some of the main responsibilities include:
* Completing Medicines Reconciliation to ensure patients are receiving the right medications in hospital
* Counselling patients on newly started medicines
* Supporting with discharge processes to enable strong patient flow

Person Specification
Qualifications, knowledge and experience
* Registered pharmacy technician in UK by GPhC or working towards qualifications suitable for registration as a pharmacy technician with the GPhC within the next six months.
* Numerate and literate e.g. GCSE in Maths and English A* to C or equivalent or IELTS test score 7 as required by GPhC if overseas candidate
* Accurate dispensing of medicines (in hospital or community pharmacy or aseptics)
* Maintaining continuous professional development requirements or training portfolio
* Dealing with customers and / or patients
* Able to use a range of information technology programmes
* Demonstrates being able to organise own and others workload and prioritise effectively
* Able to work antisocial hours, weekends and bank holidays as per rota.
* Able to travel to and work at RSH / SGH and other sites if required
* Hospital pharmacy experience
* Stock control / ordering experience
* Providing a ward-based medicines management service
* Aseptic pharmacy experience
* Clinical trials or research experience
* Experience of using JAC or similar pharmacy based computer systems
* Experience of supervision of staff or trainees
