Job Title: HV Maintenance Electrician
Location: East Anglia (with travel required to Cambridge)
Position Type: Permanent
Role context: This role is part of the MEICA and capital maintenance team. You will contribute to have a safety-first, client- and customer-centric environment while maintaining, renewing, and reimagining infrastructure services.
What We’re Looking For
The most important requirement is hands-on experience working with Distribution Network Operator (DNO) assets, with a strong understanding of HV distribution systems and safe systems of work. You should be flexible to travel regularly to Cambridge as part of your role. Formal qualifications are desirable but not mandatory; the right candidate will have the opportunity to gain and complete all necessary certifications and training with us.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Installation, maintenance, and repair of high-voltage (HV) electrical equipment and systems to ensure safety, compliance, and efficiency.
* Working on HV equipment across substations (AIS and GIS), including transformers (up to 132kV), disconnectors, CTs, switchgear, protection panels, and SCADA systems, to DNO/IDNO specifications.
* Carrying out general maintenance, testing, inspections, and remedial works.
* Supporting installation of power systems on-site and assisting station engineers with defects.
* Glanding, terminating, and testing of cables, including insulation resistance and ductor testing.
* Reading and working from technical drawings and specifications.
* Maintaining compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
* Collaborating with the team to troubleshoot and resolve issues effectively.

* Essential: Demonstrable experience working with DNO HV systems.
* Proficient in the use of hand and power tools.
* Strong awareness of safe systems of work within substations.
* Problem-solving ability and confidence under pressure.
* Good communication and teamwork skills.
Qualifications
* The following are desirable but can be gained with us if you don’t already hold them: City & Guilds 2339-17 (or equivalent); Level 3 Power Networks Craftsperson Qualification; Level 3 in Electrical Engineering; Level 3 NVQ Electrical Maintenance (or Installations); BS7671 18th Edition Wiring Regulations; Emergency First Aid at Work; Confined Space certifications (A, B & C); EUSR, PAF 3a/3b, PASMA, Ladder Association, Slinger/Signaller, Telehandler.
