About The Role
We are currently recruiting for Senior Technicians to join our UK-wide Water Design Team. The positions support our expanding Water Utilities workload and involve designing water and wastewater infrastructure projects as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Responsibilities include design delivery from feasibility to detailed construction and commissioning stages.
The roles primarily support long-term frameworks with Northumbrian Water Group, Severn Trent Water, and United Utilities, with additional opportunities across the UK for clients such as Scottish Water and Edinburgh Airport.
This is a permanent, hybrid role ideally based in or around Glasgow, Durham, or Birmingham, with flexibility for other locations or work arrangements. Travel requirements include holding a full UK driving license.
What Will Your Day Look Like
1. Work according to project controls, guidelines, and procedures.
2. Support the design team and undertake a range of design tasks.
3. Produce design outputs following CAD standards and procedures.
4. Understand and lead BIM implementation on projects.
5. Supervise Technicians and Trainee Technicians as needed.
6. Be familiar with water, wastewater, infrastructure, and non-infrastructure design techniques.
7. Understand the structure and activities of the business.
8. Have basic knowledge of clients and the water market.
9. Collaborate within a team environment.
10. Ensure timely delivery and communicate issues affecting project timelines.
11. Follow Quality Management System processes throughout the project lifecycle.
12. Comply with health, safety, and environmental legislation, including CDM Regulations.
About You
1. Relevant degree or technical qualification (HNC, HND, etc.).
2. Basic understanding of water/wastewater infrastructure design, open to learning from other civil engineering backgrounds.
3. Experience with Autodesk packages, especially Civil 3D or Revit.
4. Ability to assist in upskilling team members and developing software components.
5. Proficient with MS Office suite.
6. Strong communication and organizational skills, capable of producing clear reports.
7. Proven team player with a professional attitude to meet deadlines.
8. Client-focused with a drive for continuous improvement.
9. High health & safety awareness.
10. Positive attitude towards learning and problem-solving software skills.
