POSITION SUMMARY PAYROLL ASSISTANT *This position requires being on-site Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (OPPORTUNITY TO BECOME FULL TIME IN THE FUTURE) Join our team as a Part-Time Payroll Assistant, where you will play a key role in supporting payroll operations and ensuring accurate processing of employee compensation. This position requires attention to detail, proficiency in administrative tasks, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality. Core Responsibilities: Collect and verify weekly timekeeping information for all employees to ensure accuracy. Input and validate all submitted timesheets promptly with strong attention to detail. Calculate and verify payroll amounts, including adjustments for overtime, deductions, and special rates. Audit and reconcile total hours on timesheets against input data for precision. Maintain meticulous records of hourly rates, wages, and employee onboarding details. Print and distribute payroll checks efficiently. Process direct deposits securely and accurately. Prepare bank deposits compliant with payroll and union requirements. Handle court orders, tax levies, unemployment claims and other financial deductions with strict adherence to regulations. Accurately report employee contributions to 401(k) plans. Distribute comprehensive payroll reports to relevant personnel. Address and resolve employee inquiries and concerns regarding payroll promptly and professionally. Process union reports and payments accurately. Perform additional duties as assigned to support payroll, HR and administrative functions effectively. Essential Qualifications: Prior experience in payroll administration is preferred. Thorough understanding of accounting principles and best practices in payroll. Proficiency in MS Office suite and familiarity with relevant software applications, IBM and Foundation preferred but not required. Commitment to ethical standards, including maintaining confidentiality. Ability to work effectively under pressure, ensuring timely completion of tasks. Exceptional organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail. Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, coupled with strong interpersonal skills.
