Job Title: Cover Supervisor Location: Durham Salary: £100 – £130 per day (depending on experience) Start Date: Immediate Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time Are you a confident and adaptable individual looking to support students in a classroom environment? GSL Education are currently recruiting enthusiastic and reliable Cover Supervisors to work in schools across Durham. This rewarding role involves supervising classes during teacher absences, ensuring students stay engaged with their learning and complete pre-set work in a structured and positive environment. The successful candidate will help maintain continuity of learning while promoting positive behaviour and student participation. Main Responsibilities of a Cover Supervisor: Supervise classes in the absence of the regular teacher Deliver pre-set work and ensure students remain on task Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies Support students with their learning where required Provide feedback to teaching staff regarding student progress and behaviour Maintain a safe, respectful, and productive classroom environment Follow safeguarding and school procedures at all times Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff Requirements of a Cover Supervisor: Previous experience working with young people is desirable Strong communication and classroom management skills Confident, proactive, and adaptable approach Ability to engage and motivate students Degree or relevant school-based experience is advantageous Passion for education and supporting student development An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply) Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection, and successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks, including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service or completing a new application.
