Purpose
Established in 1986, City in the Community is Manchester City’s official charity. We support people across Manchester by empowering healthier lives through football. Our programmes place physical and mental wellbeing at their core, whilst also creating healthy futures and healthy communities.
The purpose of the Community Coach – Cross Programmes role is to provide flexible delivery support across CITC’s education and community programmes, ensuring continuity of service during periods of staff absence or increased delivery demand. The role is vital in maintaining consistent delivery standards, safeguarding participant experience, and supporting strong relationships with partners. Programme delivery may include, but is not limited to: Early Years, Primary Stars, Inspires, BTEC, and Outreach.
Accountabilities
1. Deliver high-quality sessions across a range of CITC programmes, following curriculum aims and individual session plans to ensure CITC fulfils service level agreements and delivery standards.
2. Work collaboratively with programme Officers to plan and deliver sessions that are engaging, inclusive, and safe for all participants, ensuring a consistent experience across all delivery areas.
3. Support the tracking and reporting of key performance indicators (KPIs) related to participant outcomes, attendance, and impact, contributing to CITC’s overall programme targets.
4. Build and maintain strong working relationships with delivery partners, school staff, and participants to uphold CITC’s reputation and sustain long-term partnerships.
5. Ensuring that CITC’s Safeguarding policy and procedures are embedded to the highest standard across the team. Work to ensure that safeguarding practices and principles are adhered to, ensuring our legal and moral obligations towards the framework.
6. Ensure that all CITC and CFG policies and procedures are adhered to across the team escalating any breaches as appropriate.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential
7. Minimum National Governing Body (NGB) Level 2 Coaching Certificate (excluding dodgeball)
8. Experience of working with children and young people or various groups within the community.
9. Experience of planning and delivering high quality coaching/education sessions which are challenging and inclusive to the needs of the group.
10. Ability to simultaneously coordinate delivery and admin related to a variety of different projects
11. Flexible, resilient and adaptable to change
12. Ability to quickly build rapport with participants and partners
13. Competent across Microsoft office
14. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
15. Creative and passionate about continuous improvement
16. Excellent and inclusive team-working abilities
17. Full driving licence
Desirable
18. Coaching qualifications in other relevant sports, specifically Level 2 multi-skills
19. L3 Certificate in Supporting PE and School Sport
20. Educated to degree level in a relevant field (Education, Sports, Coaching)
21. Experience of delivering in educational settings and working towards the national curriculum.
22. Understanding of City in the Community Foundation and its projects
23. Experience and knowledge of working within a brand environment and understanding the responsibilities that are associated with representing a Premier League Football Club
24. Experience of delivery in a classroom environment
25. Experience of building relationships with external organisations and maintaining internal partnerships.
26. Excellent communication and motivation skills
27. Experience of strong behaviour management
