Job Summary:
The Health Care Assistant (HCA) supports the clinical team by providing a range of delegated clinical and administrative tasks. Working under the supervision of a registered nurse or GP, the HCA plays a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
* Phlebotomy (venepuncture)
* Measuring and recording vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, oxygen saturation)
* New patient health checks and NHS health checks
* ECG recording
* Height, weight, BMI, and waist circumference measurements
* Urinalysis
* Wound care and dressings (if trained)
* Spirometry (if trained)
* Administering influenza, B12 and other injections under a PGD or PSD (if trained)
* Blood glucose and HbA1c monitoring
* Smoking status assessment and brief cessation advice
* Chaperoning clinicians during intimate examinations
* Supporting chronic disease reviews, including data collection and template completion
Administrative Duties
* Accurate clinical record-keeping using EMIS
* Read coding of clinical information
* Assisting with audits and data collection
* Stock control and equipment maintenance
* Ensuring clinical areas are clean and fully stocked
* Supporting recall systems and patient follow-up

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Pay: £13.00-£14.50 per hour
