Job Description
We are recruiting an experienced Shift Manager to strengthen our depot operations management team.
In this role you will work closely with our self‑employed Owner Drivers and employed drivers, building strong relationships and keeping them engaged, well managed and motivated to ensure outstanding service is delivered.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure depot target for Core Routes is achieved.
* Ensure depot target Stops Per Route (SPR) is achieved.
* Ensure all other delivery and collection routes are properly set.
* Ensure all drivers scan and load their vans for delivery in a safe, timely and efficient manner.
* Maintain ongoing communication with drivers to resolve any issues.
* Ensure adequate resources are available to guarantee ad‑hoc collections are picked up via your pool of drivers or by using couriers/agencies.
* Ensure all relevant documentation and systems are completed accurately and in line with company and/or legislative requirements.
* Work to set Key Performance Indicators including Service, Cost, Productivity, Transport and Health and Safety.
* Ensure “Depot Clear” is achieved in line with depot targets.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with:
* Experience in a fast‑paced operation with proven people‑management experience, including direct accountability and responsibility for motivating and leading a high‑performing team, ideally within a transport setting.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to inspire, motivate and manage a team.
* Decisive and effective decision‑making, problem‑resolution and time‑management skills.
* Demonstrable resilience, self‑motivation and flexibility.
* Excellent computer skills, particularly with Google Chrome applications.
* Ability to produce comprehensive reporting and analyse data.
* Vigilance to allow swift and appropriate action against unscrupulous activity.
