The EducationDepartment
The Education department is set up to providepersonalised support and structured intervention including both 1:1and group sessions and activity. Our programmes are targeted atyoung people who are at risk of not achieving their potential.
The programmes in this department are delivered inpartnership with a variety of professionals the local authorityschools educators youth justice and other agencies. This joined upapproach brings about meaningful collaboration and means that weare able to support those that need it most. Our programmes focuson positive relationships developing strong interpersonal skillsand building confidence in young people. Aspirations and goalsetting are also central to the purpose enabling young people toconsider their future whether this is linked to building morepositive peer relationships or relationships at home or theirlongterm future and careeraspirations.
Main Purpose ofJob
We are looking for personable andcommitted individuals who can work with young people withchallenging backgrounds providing personalised support bespokeactivity and focused mentoring. You must be able to build rapportwith young people and have a belief that with the right tools andsupport all young people will achieve their potential.
This role will support some of the followingprogrammes;
Brighter Futures weekly 1:1 sessionsfor children & young people in care at the edge of care andtheir families. Supporting with managing challenging behaviourssocial emotional needs and identifying strategies to help moveforward.
Turnaround Programme referrals from Youth JusticeService (YJS) who attend a weekly 1:1 mentoring sessions to raiseaspirations divert away from risk taking or criminalbehaviour.
Focus 30 intervention to support secondarystudents struggling to manage their own behaviour in school.
Advantage Mentoring young people with low level mentalhealthneeds
Responsibilities
Provide1:1 mentoring to young people
To provide tailoredinclusive high quality and engaging activities which meet the needsof the children and young people.
Take a flexible approachto all cases demonstrating empathy &understanding.
Under direction of Line Manager liaise withparents/guardians/local authority professionals whererequired.
Facilitate and encourage young people tocontinue on to further programmes (internal/external) and positivepathways.
Maintain accurate records as appropriate foreach project including Risk Assessments Registers Session Logs& case studies; tracking progression.
EnsureBFCCST safeguarding standards and expectations are alwaysfollowed.
Regularly liaising with BFCCST Safeguarding teamto risk assess each referral effectively identifying individualsupport plans where required.
Ensure supporting documentsand reporting are up to date and entered on internal monitoringsystems (Views/Salesforce).
Be able to demonstrate apositive impact on the young people you work with.
Ensurethat all delivery for which you are responsible complies with allBrentford FC CST health and safety safeguarding GDPR & EDIrequirements.
Support with any other bespoke educationprojects in line with fundingrequirements.
Person Specification
Essential
Experience ofdelivering engaging sessions for young people (1024yrs) withchallenging backgrounds
Experience of working with youngpeople forming strong positive relationships leading to positivechange.
Safeguarding Qualification & EmergencyFirst Aid Certificate (or willingness to completetraining)
Current DBS certificate (a new one will also beprocessed)
A good listener who understands the value ofmentoring and 1:1 support
Experience of working with youngpeople in a supportive role
An understanding ofsafeguarding and its importance
Organised and work withattention to detail
Commitment to diversity equalopportunities and inclusivity
Willingness and flexibilityto deliver sessions across our catchment areas at our stadium& sports hubs in schools PRUs and youth centres.
Desirable
L2qualification in Mentoring or Youth Work
UKCC Level 1/2coaching qualification or equivalent
Mental Health FirstAid Certificate
Experience of working in a pastoralrole
Experience working with Youth JusticeServices
Good knowledge of the local area and demographics(Hounslow and neighbouring boroughs)
Ability to adaptsessions to support young people with additional supportneeds
Full UK driving license and access to ownvehicle
