Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to join our team at SPAR Princess Street, Manchester. In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting our kitchen operations and ensuring high-quality food preparation that aligns with our commitment to excellence. This is a dual role of Evening (15:00 – 23:00) Kitchen and Shop Assistant. 4 or 5 shifts a week, must be available weekends. Your main focus will be the Kitchen but you will be also be required to help out on the shop floor when required, both during your Kitchen shift and sometimes you may get a whole Shop Assistant shift, where the whole shift is Shop Floor based.
Responsibilities
* Assist with food preparation tasks. Cooking various basic items; frozen pastries, breakfast baps, burgers, jacket potatoes, chicken items, hotdogs. Most of it is frozen items that need cooking in the oven, then assembling and wrapping. You will also be responsible for producing basic sandwich sub rolls and salads and bagging up freeze thaw items.
* Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and shop floor areas. 2 ovens, 2 coffee machines, orange machine, pastry unit, cake area, seating area and more.
* Ensure compliance with food safety standards and regulations.
* Provide excellent Customer Service
Key Qualities
* Have to be over 18
* Strong work ethic
* Previous kitchen or catering experience is preferred.
* Food Hygiene Certificate preferred
* Strong knowledge of food safety practices, including Natashas Law and food Allergens
* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
* Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks.
* Happy working by yourself, can be trusted to managing your own time but also able to take direction and work within a larger team.
* Ability to complete all jobs to a high standard, taking pride in their work.
* Your have to be reliable
* A inner drive to constantly improve standards in the 'Daily Deli' section, be able to see and implement the fine details needed.
Wage is starting atminimum wage during initial 6month probationary period. This can increase after probation period is passed, depending on performance during this time. The starting wage can be negotiated for candidates with relevant experience, that have proof they are already on a higher wage.
