About us
One Small Thing was founded in 2014 by prison philanthropist Lady Edwina Grosvenor, in response to the unacceptable levels of suicide, self-harm, and violence within women’s prisons in England. Our aim is to achieve systemic change across the justice system, one small thing at a time.
Our name reflects the value of small acts—empathy, compassion, respect—and their combined power to make a significant difference to individuals and society.
Hope Street is a new, purpose-built residential community service designed in collaboration with women, for justice-involved women and their children in Hampshire. It offers a trauma-informed, safe environment where women and their children can access education, support, and activities to build confidence, self-esteem, and skills, fostering a fulfilling and meaningful life.
About the role
Are you passionate about creating life-changing opportunities for women affected by the justice system? Do you enjoy building genuine connections and helping others feel seen, heard, and understood? If so, this could be the perfect role for you.
As Referral and Engagement Coordinator, you’ll support women as they begin their journey with Hope Street. You’ll ensure they are welcomed with clarity, compassion, and care, and contribute to collaborative decisions around referrals. You’ll also work on strengthening external relationships, raising awareness across justice, housing, and community sectors, and increasing referrals from partners.
This role is vital in reaching more women who could benefit from our support and ensuring our referral pathways are responsive, inclusive, and trauma-informed.
You’ll need to be calm, resilient, and grounded, able to navigate a fast-paced environment while providing consistent, compassionate support.
This post is restricted to women due to the role's nature, under the Occupational Requirement of Schedule 9 (part 1) of the Equality Act 2010.
A valid driving license, access to your own vehicle, and business car insurance are required.
