Technical Manager (Field based) – Job Description
Introduction:
Innovation Automotive is a UK-based vehicle distributor located in Cirencester, Gloucestershire, operating under the Skywell brand. We are a young company with ambitious goals, aiming to make the transition to electric vehicles simple and affordable for everyone.
Skywell is part of the Skyworth Group in China, a ¥65-billion conglomerate involved in various sectors including vehicles, solar equipment, energy storage, and home appliances.
In 2025, we plan to introduce the Skywell BE11 electric SUV to retail and fleet markets, expand our dealer network, and enhance customer experience. Later, we will expand our range with new vans and passenger cars, including the anticipated Skywell Q hatchback.
With existing partnerships and future growth opportunities, Innovation Automotive has an exciting future. To support this growth, we seek an experienced Technical Manager, field-based, ideally near Cirencester or within commuting distance to Bristol/Southampton docks, covering the UK. The role involves assisting dealers and repairers with diagnostics and repairs, visiting customers, and liaising with our technical team in China.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Working from our Cirencester office, with possible work from home, docks, dealer, and customer locations.
2. Understanding electrical, mechanical, high voltage, and vehicle specifications to resolve complex technical issues.
3. Creating technical and customer documentation, and internal processes.
4. Communicating with our China-based technical support team for feedback and updates.
5. Generating quality reports highlighting areas for improvement.
6. Traveling within your region to dealer sites, with occasional overnight stays.
7. Conducting aftersales inductions for new dealers.
8. Understanding diagnostic platforms provided by our partners.
Essential skills and experience:
1. Qualified motor vehicle technician with at least 5 years of experience.
2. Qualified to Electric Vehicles IMI Level 3 (or equivalent).
3. Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills, with first-time fix ability.
4. IT literacy, including Microsoft SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
6. Strong administrative skills.
7. Self-motivated, calm under pressure, and a team player.
8. Methodical, organized, and capable of managing workload independently.
9. Flexible approach to work.
10. Full UK Driving Licence with no more than 6 points.
11. Confidence in presenting and training stakeholders on IT systems.
Desirable skills and experience:
1. Experienced Master Technician.
2. Qualified to IMI EV Level 4.
3. Clean driving licence.
