Job Summary
We are looking for Support Workers to provide assistance to a young girl (12), to attend after school clubs throughout the week and to attend the local community and days out on a weekend. This client requires support with managing her emotions and can attempt to self injure if she becomes dysregulates, she has neurodiverse learning needs so candidates must have experience in young people learning disabilities and mental health. You will work closely with other professionals to deliver patient-centred support while ensuring safety and comfort. Staff must have full UK drivers licence, and able to work flexibly. Experience in holds/restraint is desirable however full training can be provided for the right candidates.
Responsibilities
* Provide prompted support to client regarding her own personal care needs.
* Engage in positive behaviour management techniques to promote positive interactions, safety and emotional well-being.
* Attend local community and activities that have meaning to the client and support her to engage appropriately.
* Facilitate transportation for client, including driving them to appointments or social activities.
* Maintain a clean and safe environment for client, adhering to health and safety regulations.
* Document client progress and report any changes in condition to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
* Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance clients' overall quality of life.
Skills
* Experience with young people with learning difficulties and mental health conditions is desirable.
* Experience in manual hold/restraint techniques is desirable, however training can be provided.
* Proficiency in caregiving techniques, including first aid skills if necessary.
* Strong communication skills to effectively interact with client, families, and healthcare teams.
* Being able to support the client with positive behaviour management techniques is of high importance in this role.
* Ability to manage challenging behaviours with empathy and patience.
* A valid driving licence is essential for transporting client as needed.
