Applications are invited from experienced Anatomical Pathology Technicians (APT) or trainees in this field to join our team.
You should have or be willing to work towards the Level 3 Diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technology, with experience as an Anatomical Pathology Technician or Mortuary/Laboratory Assistant working within an NHS Cellular Pathology Laboratory.
Applicants must have experience working in a Cellular Pathology / Mortuary service and a good understanding of current practices in this area.
The Applicant Will
* Be responsible for the efficient day-to-day operation of NHS Forth Valley mortuary, liaising with relatives, Procurators Fiscal, Police, and hospital staff.
* Participate in technical work in the Post Mortem room and Mortuary service across Forth Valley.
* Assist in conducting post-mortem examinations, including evisceration, sampling, and weighing organs.
* Manage receipt, recording, storage, and release of deceased patients, liaising with funeral directors, relatives, police, medical staff, and Pathologists.
* Participate in an out-of-hours on-call service.
This position is based at Forth Valley Royal Hospital, supporting both hospital and community services.
