Health Care Assistant Community Nursing – Maryport

Full time or Part Time posts – 37.5 hours per week. Service runs 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Daily shift patterns between 8:30 and 22:30. Weekend working on a rotational basis.
Flexible working is required to meet the needs of the patients group. The Care Group is commissioned to provide 24/7 nursing services.
Main Duties of the Job
As a Health Care Assistant in a multi‑disciplinary team, you will work with other health and social care professionals to develop the ethos of multi‑disciplinary, integrated care and seamless services ensuring that patient care is delivered to the highest possible standard. Under the direction of a registered health care professional you will undertake a range of delegated patient nursing and care duties including clinical observations and recording patient information. Tasks include supporting patients with personal hygiene and activities of daily living, catheterisation, wound care, venepuncture and supporting with the diabetic caseload.
Essential Criteria
* National Care Certificate or commitment to complete within 12 weeks of commencing employment.
* Level 3 vocational qualification or equivalent knowledge and experience in a range of clinical care duties.
* Experience of working in health or social care.
* Experience of undertaking and recording clinical observations and escalating changes or findings.
* Numeracy and Literacy Level 2.
* Undertaken relevant additional training for Clinical Support Workers.
* Knowledge and awareness of safeguarding, GDPR and relevant legislation.
Knowledge and Experience
* Working knowledge of legislation underpinning care provision.
* Understanding of the importance of robust, accurate, clear, timely documentation.
* Insight into behaviours and skills of a carer and the need for effective team work.
* Understanding work‑related boundaries.
* Familiarity with current NHS and social care policies.
* Nursing policies and procedures.
* Evidence of understanding of Trust business.
* Experience of working in the Trust previously.

* Ability to adopt appropriate styles and methods of communication.

* Basic IT skills to use electronic patient records and other Trust systems.

Salary
£25,760 to £27,476 a year pro rata.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and a submission for Disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly CRB) is required. DBS charges are £28.00 for a standard check or £56.00 for an enhanced check, deducted from salary over four months or as a one‑off payment.
