In 2022, the Emergency Duty Service underwent a huge restructuring and went from being generic to 3 specialised teams, with the Children’s and Adult’s Services continuing to be closely aligned under one Service Manager.
The teams operate outside of office hours, and cover county-wide, supporting children in need and adults with care and support needs, at times of crisis. We are currently looking for an Adult’s Team Manager to join our passionate and dedicated team to further enhance our service delivery.
About us
Our Adult’s Emergency Duty Service (EDS) provides key responses to urgent out-of-hours contacts in respect of need for care, support and safeguarding for adults, their families and carers.
The Adult’s EDS team is comprised of 1 fte Team Manager, 3 fte Advanced Social Workers and 3 fte Social Care Assessors who are supported by a pool of locums. The team works closely with other out of hours services and partners.
About you
If you are a qualified, currently registered and experienced Adults Team Manager who wants to lead our small but dedicated team of specialist adult social care professionals to provide a quality, person-focussed response and make a real difference when it matters most, then we want to hear from you!
The post holder must have:
• Substantial post-qualifying experience as a Social Work Qualified Team Manager.
• Proven leadership skills and be able to work independently, within a team and with partners.
• A high standard of analytical, assessment, organisational and communication skills, as well as flexibility and resilience.
• Experience of supervising and managing staff / student placements
• Experience of providing on the job training, coaching and mentoring.
• In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation of your specialist role, including a knowledge of wider Social Care legislation including the Care Act 2014 and The Mental Capacity Act 2005.
• Extensive quality assurance experience and using data and feedback to inform SMART service improvement plans.
Rota pattern
To work to a 2 week rolling rota shift pattern which includes working:
• 3 x weekday day shifts each week, 08:30 – 18:30 (alternating between working Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Monday, Thursday, Friday)
• Alternate weekends, Saturday and Sunday 08:30 – 17:30 office based.
• Some Bank Holiday day shifts to support business continuity.
• A flexible commitment to our on-call overnight rota, between 02:30 – 08:30, responding to adult safeguarding contacts received overnight.
• Contacts relating to adult safeguarding after 02:30 are relatively infrequent.
No annual leave or Bank Holiday entitlement is incorporated in the rota (which is the case for some other EDS posts). When rostered and work a Bank Holiday, the team manager may accrue TOIL.
The rota includes at least 2 consecutive days off work each week and alternate weekends.
