NHS Glasgow Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is the largest NHS Health Organisation in Scotland providing acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of 1.3 million plus providing specialist regional and national services to more than half of Scotland’s population. The geographical area covered is diverse; encompassing 6 HSCPs and with an annual revenue budget of c £4.4 billion and a capital budget of £98m.

*The Acute Division delivers a significant level of NHSGGC healthcare. In order to ensure we can continue with our key inputs we require a to provide system wide Leadership across Acute Services for the development of service redesign and comprehensive programme management of key priority projects aligned to the Boards Access Strategic Objectives.

1. To be responsible for the Patient Access agenda for planned care across NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.
2. To be accountable and responsible for leadership, planning, operational management and human and financial resources management of the Patient Access initiatives.
3. The post holder will utilise project management skills to lead on and deliver with colleagues the project objectives as well as initiating and leading service redesign/ transformation for achievement and maintenance of Acute Divisional operational targets and modernisation of acute care delivery.

The post holder will deputise for the Director of Access as required.

You will support the improvement in performance and delivery of patient access to planned care, leading transformation of services in the achievement of local and national Access targets.

You will lead on a number of programmes to improve productivity and efficiency to maximize productive opportunities including in the delivery of outpatient services and our extensive theatre programme, seeking out best practice models and developing our whole system approach to service transformation and delivery.

You will also assist with the development of our annual delivery plan whilst providing expertise and support to the Director of Access in the delivery of our commitments across all aspects of planned care.

You will develop key relations with SGHD National Access team and colleagues from CfSD as part of your role to ensure continuous improvement in the delivery of planned care across Acute Services.

As from 1st April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
