Senior Network Engineer with Proxy experience
Location: Glasgow or Newcastle – site based in one of DXC regional delivery centres. Role focuses on project delivery for UK Secure accounts.
Job Summary
This Network Engineering role focuses on implementation of remote network services for a DXC secure customer. Responsibilities include Proxy, LAN, WAN, Firewall and security infrastructures, with a key focus on Cisco and Aruba. Candidate must have 5‑10 years of experience in a multi‑vendor data centre environment delivering project engineering functions.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain data network hardware and systems.
* Investigate and resolve network and hardware issues.
* Analyze, isolate, and troubleshoot network errors.
* Assess and upgrade legacy network components as needed.
Technical Support And Leadership
* Provide technical support for both internal and external customers.
* Respond to technical inquiries and recommend solutions.
* Lead network problem escalation and resolution.
* Mentor junior Network Engineering staff.
Network Installation And Configuration
* Install and maintain network infrastructure for small to medium‑sized networks.
* Deploy network applications on servers and voice equipment.
* Conduct network testing, maintenance, and problem resolution.
* Perform network configurations on routers, switches, firewalls and security appliances.
Documentation And Communication
* Prepare network diagrams and documentation reflecting current operational status.
* Draft proposals addressing customer requirements.
* Collaborate with network architects to design and implement functional company networks.
* Conduct regular network performance tests.
Mandatory Skills
* Cisco LAN/WAN skills equivalent to CCNP.
* Aruba LAN skills equivalent to Aruba ACP.
* Experience in large‑scale multi‑vendor campus environments.
* Experience with Checkpoint and Palo Alto firewalls.
* Experience with OSPF, BGP, and iBGP.
* Knowledge of forwarding and reverse proxy technologies including Broadcom/Symantec and Netskope.
* PKI & SSL certificate experience, browser configuration knowledge.
* Web server knowledge (HTML, CSS & JavaScript).
* Layer 7 understanding, end‑to‑end application flow skills.
* Experience with large‑scale structured cabling infrastructures in a production/manufacturing environment.
Basic Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience.
* Preferred: Bachelor’s in engineering, computer science, information systems or related field.
* Experience in data networking with Cisco and Aruba infrastructures.
* Proven troubleshooting of LAN/WAN/FW systems and technical infrastructure.
* Knowledge of modern network systems, networking principles, and data or video communication.
* Eligible for or currently possess SC clearance (mandatory).
