Electronics Engineer – High-Impact, Full-Lifecycle Role
Location: Dunfermline, Scotland
Employment Type: Full-Time
Tired of being a small cog in a giant machine?
Our client is a streamlined, high-impact innovation team developing cutting-edge products. We are looking for an Electronics Engineer who wants to do more than just stare at a single circuit all day. In this role, you won't just be a specialist; you'll be a vital contributor to the entire journey, from initial prototype debugging to final production readiness.
The Opportunity: Variety, Responsibility, and Growth
Because our client operates with a focused, cross-functional team, you will gain exposure to every facet of electronic hardware development. You will work closely with Lead Engineers to ensure custom hardware is world-class, offering a level of project visibility you won't find at a massive corporation.
What you'll be doing:
* Hands-On Development:
Lead the bring-up, debugging, and validation of custom PCB assemblies.
* The "Maker" Aspect:
Perform high-precision soldering and rework on fine-pitch components—moving beyond the screen and onto the bench.
* Design & Innovation:
Support schematic capture and PCB layout, with the unique opportunity to take full ownership of lower-level designs under senior mentorship.
* Problem Solving:
Use oscilloscopes, logic analysers, and DMMs to perform root-cause analysis across prototype and production hardware.
* Rigorous Testing:
Drive environmental testing, burn-in, and qualification activities to ensure products thrive in the real world.
Who You Are
We need someone who is naturally curious and thrives in a fast-paced R&D environment.
* Education:
Ideally, a Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related field. (or equivalent experience)
* Experience:
3+ years of hands-on experience in a laboratory or production / support environment.
* Technical Knowledge:
A rock-solid understanding of analogue and digital electronics fundamentals.
* Lab Skills:
Proficiency with standard test equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies) and a talent for PCB troubleshooting.
* Design Tools:
Experience with schematic capture and basic PCB layout (Altium preferred).
The "Extra" Skills:
* Familiarity with mixed-signal circuits, EMC/ESD considerations, or embedded systems (microcontrollers, sensors).
* Experience with PCB library management and component lifecycle management.
