About the Role
Workshop Leading Hand at SMT GB. This is a hands-on role that requires both technical expertise and strong leadership skills, leading and coordinating the workshop team to ensure timely and efficient completion of service and repair tasks on machinery.
What You Will Be Doing
* Supervising the workshop team and allocating tasks to ensure efficient use of resources
* Carrying out service and repair tasks on Volvo construction equipment or miscellaneous equipment
* Maintaining a high standard of quality and workmanship
* Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
* Monitoring and controlling workshop processes, including workflow and productivity
* Training and mentoring workshop technicians
* Working with the Workshop Manager to identify areas for improvement and implement process enhancements
* Providing technical support and guidance to colleagues and customers
* Managing workshop inventory and ensuring proper stock levels
* Completing administrative tasks, including job cards and reports
What You\'ll Need
* A formal engineering qualification in Plant Maintenance, Agricultural/HGV mechanics or related field
* Proven experience in a similar role, preferably within the heavy construction plant industry
* Strong technical knowledge in diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and electronics
* Excellent leadership and communication skills
* Ability to prioritize and delegate tasks
* Attention to detail and commitment to quality
* Problem-solving and decision-making abilities
* Proficient computer skills
* Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
* Valid driver\'s license
