Job overview

The Make Ready Sector Manager - Norfolk will have overarching responsibility for their Sector's staff, delivery of the service in the sector and the management and support of their Sector's staff.

They will be responsible for tracking and ensuring that KPI targets are achieved. They will receive Quality Improvement training and use it to enhance efficiency in their sector - leading and piloting change identified individually or through our innovation forums. They will account for their Sector's performance at the clinical operations ODG meetings alongside other senior staff.

The purpose of this role is to proactively and compassionately lead and inspire a team of Hub Coordinators, Shift Supervisors, Make Ready Operatives and Make Ready Driver Cleaners within a defined geographical area to provide safe, effective, caring and responsive services of a modern ambulance service.

Main duties of the job

As part of an area-based team, the post holder will be ultimately accountable for the day to day running of the Make Ready functions within the defined geographical area in conjunction with the Area Manager and Hub Coordinators, or as directed, with particular focus on staff wellbeing and development, operational productivity and efficiency, and best utilisation of available resources to support operational deployment.

The manager will work with the Area Manager to support the Trust’s wider strategy and vision.

Make Ready Sector Managers will be required to provide coverage at multiple work settings. This will include ambulance stations to conduct meetings and appraisals, and any other setting that Make Ready management is required.

Essential to the role is the ability to ensure that professional standards, policies and procedures are complied with. The role will be required to work with staff in multiple settings to support their development and address performance related matters.

The role is to provide resolution of issues arising, to ensure the efficient use and optimal availability of resources to meet operational deployment requirements.

1. Degree level qualification in a relevant discipline or demonstrable relevant experience
2. Full British driving licence, Category B for at least two years. (Up to 6 penalty points would be considered dependent upon offence code).
3. A first Line Manager’s qualification equivalent to ILM Level 3 or Managerial qualification or equivalent experience, demonstrable experience of working in a supervisory role or above.
