Overview
Corporate leadership opportunity has arisen to join Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust as the Head of Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response (EPRR). We are seeking an experienced professional to lead the EPRR team working closely with internal teams and external multi-agency partner organisations. The post holder will be the expert for all EPRR matters within the Trust and act as a conduit for all guidance and information. The post holder will ensure the Trust meets its statutory, regulatory and NHS requirements. Responsibilities
* Lead the EPRR team and develop the strategy for each area of activity to secure delivery of EPRR statutory compliance.
* Ensure local, regional, and national guidance implementation, performance targets and strategic objectives are met.
* Provide strategic leadership for professional leadership and improvement strategies in Emergency Preparedness, Resilience & Response (EPRR) and Business Continuity Management (BCM) for trust planning, assessing and responsiveness, acting with delegated responsibility on behalf of the Accountable Emergency Officer (AEO).
* Ensure the Trust meets statutory, regulatory and NHS requirements and alignment with the Civil Contingencies Act (2004) and relevant EPRR guidance for the NHS, including business continuity and resilience preparedness; ensure national and local standards (including CQC) are met.
* Oversee the on-call system (strategic and tactical) and coordinate rotas, logs, thematic learning and the on-call SharePoint site; lead on winter planning in collaboration with the lead director and system partner organisations.
* Deliver an EPRR work programme for the Trust and develop policies, protocols, and frameworks; embed EPRR and BCM at all levels to ensure sustained delivery of high quality, safe and effective patient care.
* Build key relationships with external multi-agency partner organisations and act as EPPR Advisor to the CEO/COO/Director of Operations in working hours or on-call hours when required.
* Contribute to creating a culture of continuous improvement and ensure alignment with national and local standards and guidance.
Qualifications and experience
* Significant senior management experience in a large, complex organisation.
* Demonstrable experience of strong financial and performance management.
* Experience of leading people and managing change; ability to drive results and maintain high quality, safe services.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work collaboratively across internal teams and with external stakeholders.
Additional information
The post holder will be responsible for compiling the Trust annual work programme in relation to EPRR and ensuring local, regional, and national guidance implementation is met.
The post holder will ensure the Trust meets statutory, regulatory and NHS requirements and will oversee the coordination of relevant activities and on-call arrangements. In the event of a critical or major incident, duties may include advising the CEO/COO or Director of Operations during working hours or on-call/out of hours where available.

PLEASE NOTE: it is a requirement of this Trust that all successful applicants pay for their DBS certificate if a check is required for the post. Payment will be deducted from monthly pay over a maximum of three months. It is also a requirement that all successful applicants register, or are registered, with the DBS Update Service where a DBS is required.
